PMI NS Social Good Initiative: Volunteering in Northern Lights Lantern Festival
PMI Nova Scotia Chapter is coordinating a group of volunteers for the Northern Lights Lantern Festival. This is part of PMI Nova Scotia Chapter’s Social Good Initiatives for giving back to the community.
Date: Saturday, August 8, 2026
Time: 5:30pm - 7:30pm
Location: Merv Sullivan Park, 3791 Novalea Drive, North End of Halifax.
Who can register: PMI NS Members on priority, friends and family of PMI NS Members only if spots are available.
Registration Fee: Free
PDU: Up to 2.0 (Giving Back, Self Reporting)
Join us in volunteering to support this wonderful community event! Volunteers will have the opportunity to assist with either the Lantern Making Station or the BBQ area, helping with activities ranging from crafting with festival participants to distributing food and beverages.

Lantern Making |

Volunteers will assist festival participants with lantern making. Young participants will decorate glass jars with a variety of arts and crafts supplies including glitter, tissue paper, paint and other supplies. Volunteers will assist the lantern making station lead with the organization and operation of the lantern making station. Tasks include restocking supplies, cleaning paint brushes, and providing jars to participants. picking up garbage around the station (gloves will be provided) and other tasks. |

BBQ |

Volunteers will assist with the organization of the BBQ area and distribution of heated food and beverages to festival attendees. |
- Water will be available to all volunteers.
- Food will be available earlier in the evening (while supplies last).
